Re: Jack points and raising the aircraft

Jacking by the strut is going to compress the strut, so just consider that the strut is going to drop the full extent of the strut rod - 7-1/2", I think. So make sure the sawhorse (or jack pad on a jack) is tall enough to take that into account. You'll also need to very carefully coordinate the...

Re: Jack points and raising the aircraft

I think the key here is to distribute the load along the wing rib that the "bathtub" type fitting that supports the ring. That fitting is essentially transferring load to the rib. So something that is aligned with the rib - maybe a longer jack pad that is maybe 3' long - would be how to ap...

Re: Navion hydraulic filter change parts and process

Marty, is it directly from North American or Ryan? I hear the wisdom and experience for the longer change interval, and as I noted the NAA/Ryan documentation simply notes "periodic" inspection and filter replacement "if necessary". It's obviously the decision of the A&P in te...

Re: Avionics and Panel Update

Leo, mission is really the question. I'm a day VFR pilot with no intentions of changing; I need a COM (backup is my handheld), intercom (portable) and transponder :) How do you intend to fly? Are you instrument rated, and if so what type of IFR do you fly? 30K can be plenty, or woefully insufficient...

Roll Call: Navion A&Ps

If you're a Navion A&P, please share your location and contact information. I'll aggregate this into a sticky.

We all know that the key to a good buy is a good pre-buy by a Navion A&P, and the key to happy owners is a local Navion A&P.

Thanks!

Re: Buying a Navion

I'd also suggest joining the ANS right out of the gate. They have classifieds on their site, along with local contacts that can help you evaluate your choices. Probably been said but you must - must - have a pre-buy completed by a very experienced Navion A&P. There are unique aspects, more than ...

Storage/Shipping Fixture

I'll be editing this as I get a drawing together, but wanted to post these dimensions as they're likely useful!

The mount angle is 45 degrees
The front to back center lines are 18-3/4"
The side to side center lines are 13-1/2"
The leg heights are 13" (to clear a PS5-C)

Re: eclispe starters

I'd highly recommend Aircraft Accessories of Oklahoma. They did excellent work with a rapid turnaround. NOTE that the core charge is $3500 - you may want to send yours to be overhauled vs. getting an exchange :) http://aircraftaccessoriesofok.com/ I've also added this to the E-Series Parts and Servi...

Re: Cable Felts

I think the term is "heavy duty compressed felt" and as such there are a lot of (ahem) non-aviation sources that could be evaluated by the owner and A&P...
